CURRENT PROJECTS

As well as sponsorships, we also run projects adjacent to the school. These aim to benefit the children's wider skill set and allow them to develop beyond the classroom.

CLOTHES DONATION

During Leweston School's most recent trip to Jana Jyoti Secondary School in October 2025, they brought with them various clothing items for the children in the local area. Bil and other staff handed these items out, firstly to the poorer children, to ensure that they had sufficient clothes to keep them warm in the bitter Nepali winters. Items ranged from tights to coats, blazers and sports tops. The children were seen wearing their new clothes proudly around the school.

SPORTS EQUIPMENT

Leweston also brought with them some sports kit, funded by Partners for Progress. A variety of sports were included, from cricket to football and tennis, as well as the much loved volleyball. The children always enjoy getting stuck into sports with their teachers or volunteers, and we are glad to be able to encourage their extra-curricular activities through providing this equipment.

VOCATIONAL AGRICULTURE COLLEGE

In 2019, Partners for Progress joined with local and regional government, as well as Shree Jana Jyoti Secondary School, as a junior partner in supporting the establishment of a vocational agriculture college in the village of Baglungpani. Since then our charity has provided thousands of pounds worth of equipment to the college which offers a vocational education to students from across Nepal.

CULTURAL HERITAGE MUSEUM

After meeting with Rapasing Mothers' Group, which provides a form of local governance and decision-making, Partners for Progress agreed to collaborate with the local government and the Mothers' Group in order to establish a cultural heritage museum. The museum aims to preserve and protect the cultural heritage of the multiple ethnic groups that live in the area for future generations.

COMMUNITY KITCHEN

On his most recent visit to Nepal our chairman, Charlie Portlock, met with the Baglungpani Village Committee to discuss their current projects and how Partners for Progress could assist. On hearing about the building of a community kitchen that the local people can use collectively, Partners for Progress agreed to match the villages contribution in order to help complete the project.

KAPURGAUN MEDICAL POST

In 2022/23 Partners for Progress sparked up a relationship with the rural health post in the village of Kapurgaon. In line with federal government aims to have all women give birth in a medical setting by 2030 in Nepal, Partners for Progress provided essential medical equipment including breathing apparatus to the health post that serves around one thousand patients.

COMMUNITY CENTER

Our most recent addition to the team, Honor, joined Bil in October 2025 to visit the newly built community center at Ghale Gaun. It is primarily for the BK community, who are a minority in the area and face systematic inequality. Partners for Progress donated £1000 towards this project, which Bil thought would likely go towards adding windows into the community centre. This area will provide a hub for the local Mothers' group to meet and discuss important local affairs.
