Chair of Trustees

CHARLIE MACKENZIE PORTLOCK

Charlie has been chair of Partners for Progress since its foundation in 2019. On his initial trip to Nepal in 2016 he spent three months at Shree Jana Jyoti teaching English. Since then he has revisited Nepal four times to build new relationships and strengthen old ones with schools and community groups in rural Nepal. He has helped formalise and modernise Partners for Progress and represents the charity on the Education Working Group of the Britain-Nepal NGO Network (BRANNGO). A recent masters graduate from the University of Exeter, Charlie is in the early stages of building a career in international affairs and development.

BIL PRASAD GURUNG

Headmaster - Shree Jana Jyoti Secondary School

Bil has spent over two decades as headmaster of Shree Jana Jyoti, holding a degree in English Language he is also the school's senior English teacher. Over his time at the school he and Elizabeth have developed a long-lasting and close friendship reflected by the thriving friendship link they have nurtured between Shree Jana Jyoti and Leweston. Since the foundation of Partners for Progress, Bil has been the strongest advocate and supporter of the charity in Nepal supporting us in continuing the sponsorship programme and helping to facilitate all of our collaboration with local communities and schools. He is a vital and extremely valued member of the Partners for Progress team.
